Salary EST: $50,000 USD - $55,000 USD Annualy

 

Position Summary

The HR Specialist supports the mission of Corporate Chaplains of America (CCA) by ensuring excellence in HR operations, employee onboarding, benefits administration, data integrity, and internal communications. This role works in close partnership with the HR Manager and other ministry departments to provide timely, accurate, and Christ-centered HR support. The HR Specialist plays a key role in maintaining HR systems, managing documentation, supporting compliance processes, administering employee benefits, and strengthening CCA’s ministry culture.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all new hire onboarding, including paperwork, orientation scheduling, ADP profile creation, and ministry email setup
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, 403(b), and life insurance; serve as the primary point of contact for benefits inquiries
  • Support open enrollment planning and execution, including employee communications and system configuration
  • Assist with benefits vendor relationships and ensure timely processing of enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Educate employees on benefit offerings and provide one-on-one assistance as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, whiteboard tracking, and benefits-related documentation
  • Lead or support training on HR-related processes, including leave tracking, handbook acknowledgment, and performance tools
  • Coordinate and report Worker’s Compensation claims in collaboration with HR and Finance
  • Assist with updates to the employee handbook and internal SOP manuals, especially regarding benefit policies
  • Generate analytics for benefits utilization, turnover, hours worked, employment status changes, and ministry performance effectiveness
  • Uphold PII and PHI data security standards in accordance with legal and internal policies
  • Answer internal questions regarding CCA policies, procedures, employee relations, and benefits
  • Collaborate with part-time HR support as needed
  • Participate in biblical devotions, prayer, and encourage team-wide spiritual engagement
  • Support CCA’s broader ministry through active intercessory prayer and mission alignment

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in ministry or nonprofit environments
  • Demonstrated experience administering employee benefits, including healthcare, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits
  • Prior experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP) and performance systems preferred
  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance reporting (e.g., EEO, 403b, FMLA, ACA)

Certificates and Licenses

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred)
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) certification is a plus

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Gmail, and Zoom
  • Comfort working with Apple products and cloud-based document management
  • Experience with ADP or similar HR platforms highly desirable

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Office-based position with hybrid flexibility
  • Regular use of a computer and telephone; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally
  • May involve occasional travel to training events or the Support Center
